Event Details
The "Society Member Gathering" was jointly organized by the 'Pune Municipal Corporation', 'Poornam Ecovision' Foundation and "Paryavaran sanrakshan Gatividhi" for the societies on Sinhagad Road on 3rd July as a guide to what can be done to successfully implement the composting and rainwater harvesting projects at the society level.
The gathering was held at Veer Baji Pasalkar Hall from 10 am to 12 noon. About 50 people attended the event. On behalf of Pune Municipal Corporation, Dr. Ketki Ghatge, Assistant Health Officer, Shri. Dr. Shailesh Abhyankar, CEO from Poornam Ecovision Foundation, Dr. Rajesh Manerikar and Rainwater Conservation Expert Shri. Ajay Dandekar was present.
Tanvi Chandratre and Ajay Dandekar gave detailed information about composting and rainwater harvesting respectively. Dr. Ketki Ghatge spoke about the role of Pune Municipal Corporation. Mr. Shailesh Abhyankar introduced the concept of 'Harita Ghar' to show how one can make an effort for personal participation in environmental conservation through 'Harita Ghar'.
Such projects are being set up in Pune for some years now but, its number needs to be increased. Fortunately, in the view of the spontaneous response received to this melava, efforts will be made by these organizations to hold such events in many parts of the city in future.
